Over the last 25 years I’ve undertaken thousands of creative briefs and the following pages contain a cross section of the more successful ones.

In the past when producing portfolios to show potential clients I have tended to look for the newest, freshest work. Projects that demonstrated where I am as a designer today, but in putting together this portfolio of work I actually went back over my whole body of work and as well as being a fascinatingly nostalgic journey on a personal level, it also made me aware of just how relevant the journey is in demonstrating my development as a designer and visual communicator.

I am a conceptual, rater than a structural designer by instinct and even when working on traditional graphic design projects I tend to look for an ‘idea’ with which to underpin the work.

Most of my later work has been non-collaborative, but one or two of the earlier advertising pieces were produced in a team with a copywriter, notably the Sandwell campaign and the Auto Windscreens ad which were produced with my then writing partner John Rooney.
