Professional Practice

It took me two months to get my first job as a junior art director at a Preston based advertising agency called BC Marketing, and I have spent every single day since then working as a graphic designer and visual communicator, a fact I am intensely proud of.

I’ve worked in advertising agencies and design consultancies, run my own creative consultancy and now work as a freelance graphic designer and creative consultant. I’ve worked on huge accounts such as Shell Chemicals and Nikon and household names such as Marks and Spencers and WHSmiths. I have also worked with small clients such as Lancashire Museums, Morris Quality Bakers and The National Football Museum where money is often tight; but whatever the client I have always approached every brief I have ever undertaken with the same sense of excitement that I approached my first brief at BC Marketing over twenty five years ago (if I remember rightly it was an ad for a manufacturer of industrial washing machines. I felt like John Hegarty!).
